A young woman has reportedly been left heartbroken after her boyfriend of six years ended their relationship following what he described as an “overwhelming and unrealistic” bride price list presented by her family.

According to accounts circulating on social media, the breakup was triggered when the man reviewed the traditional requirements which allegedly included items such as five fat cows, 50 broiler chickens, 30 goats, over 5,000 bags of cement, 500 tubers of yam, ₦10 million for the family, ₦5 million for community settlement, as well as luxury gadgets including an iPhone 17 Air for the bride’s mother and an iPhone 17 Pro Max for the father. The list also reportedly contained 10 bags of foreign rice, 50 liters of fuel, a solar power system, and several other household provisions.

Sources say the man, who had been in a long-term relationship with the lady, expressed shock at the demands and decided to end the relationship, citing financial incapability and pressure.

The lady, upon learning of the breakup, was said to have broken down in tears, pleading for reconsideration, but the decision had already been made.
