There is growing tension in Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency as former House of Representatives member, Hon. Vincent Ofumelu, who is also a 2027 aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has come under serious criticism over allegations of issuing fake employment letters to over 100 constituents.

Akelicious gathered that the controversy dates back to 2021 when the former lawmaker allegedly distributed employment letters to about 108 persons in his constituency, promising them job placements with an organization identified as the “National Taskforce.”

However, five years after the distribution of the letters, none of the beneficiaries have reportedly been employed, raising concerns and frustration among the affected individuals.

Further investigations have allegedly revealed that the said “National Taskforce” is not a recognised or registered agency by either the state or federal government, with claims that the organization may not exist in any official capacity.

Sources within the constituency expressed shock that such letters could have been issued by a sitting federal lawmaker at the time, describing the development as misleading and unfair to the beneficiaries.

In reaction to the situation, some of the affected individuals are reportedly mobilising to protest and petition the ADC leadership in Anambra State, urging the party to reconsider Hon. Ofumelu’s candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections.

As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Vincent Ofumelu has not publicly responded to the allegations.
