The Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 167 senior officers over alleged breaches of professional conduct and related offences.

The exercise, currently taking place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, is being handled by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), an internal body tasked with reviewing and determining cases involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.

According to the Force, the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, enforce discipline, and uphold professional standards across the institution. The committee is expected to conduct a thorough and transparent review of all pending cases in line with existing laws and regulations, before making recommendations to the Police Service Commission.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to integrity and professionalism, stressing that any officer found culpable will face due process without protection.

He noted that the disciplinary process forms part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening internal control mechanisms, promoting ethical conduct, and improving public confidence in policing.

Force spokesperson, Anthony Okon Placid, said the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in ensuring that officers adhere strictly to the core values and standards of the profession.
