According to militia sources who spoke to AFP, the insurgents stormed the base before being repelled by troops. Following the attack, clashes were also reported in nearby Leho village.
No additional casualties have been confirmed from the surrounding communities.
The incident is one of several recent attacks on military positions in Borno State, which remains the epicentre of insurgent activities in Nigeria’s Northeast.
