Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the transfer of officers captured in a viral “stop-and-search” video to the Force Headquarters in Abuja to face disciplinary actions.
The directive follows widespread public outrage over footage showing police officers allegedly harassing civilians during a roadside stop-and-search operation in Lagos.
A video capturing some police officers stopping a vehicle and ordering the occupants to step out, and taking them to another position to search their bags.
The video was posted on Saturday by an X user identified as @ChuksEricE, who claimed a young man shared a video of his encounter with some police officers in Lagos State.
In the video, a voice behind the camera remarks, “I have never seen a police officer carry a driver to one side to search him away from where his car is parked on the road.”
